Baker Baker!

Baker Baker…that which makes work on a Friday so much sweeter!

I work at a pre-school, and every Friday at 10:00am, one child in each class has the opportunity to be the Baker Baker – they get to bring some sweet treats for their class mates to enjoy! The treats may be store bought, or made at home with mom’s help.

Inspecting the ingredients!

Noah was Baker Baker the first Friday of the fourth term. I was so excited – I had known for months what we were going to make for his first Baker Baker. I bought the ingredients two weeks before, in anticipation! While I do not have a good track record with baking (I once watched a birthday cake I was baking for my father-in-law catch on fire), I was determined that Noah and I were going to “bake” together for his Baker Baker. I use the word bake very loosely – I know my limits! But it was so important to me, that Noah and I created his treats for his friends!

So we made little pencils out of wafers! It was a fool-proof recipe, and so quick and easy! I didn’t even need a recipe, I saw a picture, and made it work! *proud mommy moment*

The finished product!

What you will need:

  • Wafers
  • Chocolate chips
  • Icing sugar
  • Butter
  • Milk
  • Pink food colouring

What to do:

  • Lay the wafers out, and cut the one end, so that it makes a point
  • Make white icing, and put it on the tip of the wafer
  • Make pink icing, and put it on the flat end
  • Place a chocolate chip on the point of the wafer, on top of the white icing
  • Voila! You have a wafer pencil!
Sorry for the blurry pic, but how cute is my little Baker-Baker!

I’m having such a proud mommy moment typing this! Never did I think I would be sharing a “recipe”…no matter how basic, and how little electricity is used! The pencils were so delicious, and so easy to make. I’m now inspired to try my hand at slightly more complicated recipes, that may require some actual baking!
