Promises

For more than a year now, I have been thinking a lot about the promises of God. More specifically, I’ve been thinking a lot about how the promises of God relate to my life and the life of my little family.

In fact, I’ve had a blog post I had written in my “blog book” (because I actually handwrite each post first), from about a year ago. Going back and reading what I had originally written has been the best reminder of what God has promised us.

2018 has been an interesting year for my little family, to say the least. There have been many unknowns for us this year.  Lots of plans have changed for us over the course of 2018. We’ve gone through extreme highs. And those lows…well, there have been times this year when those lows have honestly felt like the lowest of all lows.

Yet I have constantly been reminded that God has promised to love us and look after us. He has also promised to provide for us. And he has kept these promises, daily!

He has promised to know exactly what we need, when we need it. And boy, does He! We have so many stories, just from 2018 alone, of how he has miraculously taken care of us.

There is a worship song we sing at church, and the chorus goes something like this:

Faithful You are,

Faithful forever You will be,

Faithful You are,

All Your Promises are yes and amen.

It’s one of my favourite songs. As doubts creep in, as frustrations flare up, this song reminds me that He is faithful. He keeps his promises.  He is exactly who He says He is.

I love how this song reminds me that my God keeps His promises. And now I have a visual reminder of this fact too! I received a necklace a few weeks ago, from Christian jewellery designer, Kim Atkins. It is a rainbow necklace, and it is the most beautiful reminder that God is a God who keeps His promises.

My beautiful necklace fro Kim Atkins Jewellery

Noah was with me when I got it, and he loved it so much that he decided that we would share the necklace, because, and I quote, “Sharing is caring, Mommy!”

Kim has the most stunning range of jewellery, inspired by the Bible.

Kim Atkins Jewellery comprises several ranges of beaded and silver jewellery that convey particular images or messages of hope, drawn from Biblical themes.”

Our necklaces, hanging in their special spots! When we are not wearing them, which is not often, this is where they live.

The rainbow necklace that Noah and I each received (he loved mine so much that he got one too) is inspired by the story of Noah from the Bible. God sent the rainbow at the end of the flood, as a sign and a promise that He would never flood the earth like that again. God made a promise to Noah in this story, and the rainbow was representative of that promise.

In much the same way, our rainbow necklaces are a reminder to hold onto all that God has promised us, because He loves us. And He keeps His promises!

You can find Kim on Facebook and Instagram. To find her full range of jewellery, you can visit her website here.

*Disclaimer – I saw the necklace on Kim’s Instagram page, and after a conversation about it, Kim sent me my rainbow necklace to include in a post about God’s promises. Noah’s necklace was sent to him, because he loved mine so much.
