Combatting laundry and general housework
I strongly despise any form of housework. I do not clean to relax. I do clean because I have to. And I want to live in a clean home. People who clean to relax or destress confuse me. I just don’t get it!
But I do love doing some laundry! Now that is one way for me to relax and destress! I find it so relaxing hanging the wet washing up, and I have even mastered the art of hanging it up in an orderly way, with no chaos and washing overlapping. Jason even knows, if he wants to help me around the house, the he must not touch the washing. I may ask him to take it off the line occasionally. But that’s as far as I could do it!
Since we have moved into our new place at the beginning of this year, I have been determined to figure out a cleaning routine that will not leave me going crazy. I have always prided myself on my organisation, but over the last few years, I have not been able to keep up with work, housework, life etc. This year that is changing!
Our new home is quite small, so I have broken up the housework to do a room a day, twice a week. Plus laundry on a Monday and Thursday. Because heaven knows, I need my sanity restored at the washing line! So far it’s working out quite well. Im keeping on top of the housework, for the most part.
Plus I’ve been using some SoPure Naturally products over the last month or so, and they have been working really well. They sent me four products to try, and I have been loving it. I received the Gentle Baby Laundry Wash, the Surface Disinfectant, the Body Wash and the bubble bath for sensitive skin.
Now, my cleaning schedule I have tried to implement is generally quite flexible, depending on plans, the time we get home, how untidy our home is looking. But one thing that is not flexible, is the days I do laundry. Laundry gets done on a Monday and Thursday, no matter what! Even if it means I am hanging wet washing as the sun is going down. And I have really loved using the SoPure liquid laundry detergent. I’ve especially liked it, because even though it is for babies, and my Noah is now a toddler, it’s been great for his sensitive skin. He has not had any allergies break out since using it. I’ve been looking out for a more natural laundry detergent, especially to help Noah’s skin, and this has worked so well. Plus, our clothes are looking so good!
The laundry detergent works well, because it does not contain any of these bad guys:
- Petrochemicals
- Phosphates
- Parabens
- Dyes
- Optical Brighteners
- Synthetic Fragrances
- Synthetic Chemicals
So why should you try their laundry detergent? Well, here are some benefits:
- Plant Based Ingredients
- Low Irritant Formula
- Minimised impact on the Aquatic Environment
- Contains Natural Preservatives
- Contains Natural Essential Oils Non Toxic Formula
- Powerful cleaning system to lift stubborn dirt & stains
- 100% Biodegradable ultra concentrated 1 cap = 1 wash
Generally, on a Monday while the washing is on, I will clean the bathroom, and on a Thursday I will do the lounge/kitchen. Our home is open plan, so it is quite easy to clean both spaces easily in one day. I have found the surface disinfectant great for cleaning windowsills, counters, basically anywhere that has a surface, that we touch or use on a daily basis, that could do with some disinfecting. It literally is just a case of spraying a few sprays over the surface, and wiping it down with a damp cloth. As easy as that! It is anti-bacterial, eliminates odours and contains natural preservatives and essential oils. There are no harmful chemicals and fumes to worry about, as the disinfectant does not contain any of the following:
- Parabens
- Formaldehyde
- Benzalkonium Chloride
- Sulfates
- Phosphates
- Phthalates
- Ammonia
- Chlorine Bleach
- Synthetic Fragrances
After a long day of work, and then coming home, cleaning, doing laundry, being Mommy and Wife, cooking supper, making lunches etc, I reward myself with a nice hot (and quick) shower. After all, we do live in Cape Town and are water wise these days! And I love using the body wash. The bonus is that it is safe to use on Noah as well, and we have only ever used natural skin products for him, what with his sensitive skin and all.
“Our sensitive skin formulation is extra-gentle, fragrance-free, plant powered and the same pH as healthy skin. We’ve used the latest technology in skin science to help clean and protect. We’ve avoided harsh chemicals, synthetic fragrances and essential oils which could irritate sensitive areas which means a fresh, cleansed, moisturized & balanced skin.”
SoPure Naturally Body Wash
Noah has always loved a good bubble bath. While we were housesitting for a friend over December (our new home does not have a bath), Noah had a bubble bath just about every night, with the sensitive skin bubble bath. And he was amazed at how many bubbles there were in his bath! Again, we have only ever used natural bubble bath for Noah. Anything else wrecks havoc on his skin. Whats great about this bubble bath, is that the bubbles last longer, and there really did seem to be a lot of bubbles in one bath. It has a pH balance of 5, for sensitive skin, it is non-toxic and eco-friendly. So there are no parabens, sulphates, phthalates, triclosan, petro-chemicals, synthetic colourants and synthetic fragrances.
