Life. It has not been easy. Remember when I wrote about my expectations for 2019…or lack thereof? Well, it turns out I knew what I was talking about. My plan to take 2019 day by day, was a good one. No expectations. living day to day.
Then I heard a worship song by Jonathan David and Melissa Helser, called “Raise A Hallelujah”. Never has a song spoken to my soul more than this song does. The lyrics are so powerful, and exactly the reminder I need as we face a few too many storms all at once.
When I listen to this song, I am reminded to keep my eyes focused on God. I’m reminded to keep worshipping Him, no matter how many things are falling apart around me. I’m reminded to raise my hallelujah. My enemies won’t stand against my God. As a line in the song says, “My weapon is a melody”.
We have so many unknown’s in our life at the moment. So many unexpected challenges. So many things that are giving us sleepless nights. We are doing our best to keep our eyes fixed on God, the author and perfecter of our faith. We are doing our best to keep our marriage strong and secure, as we try and weather these storms together. Man alive is it tough!
Then we play this song. And we start raising our hallelujah, to a God who has always been faithful to us. We raise our hallelujah to a God who has provided for us even when we haven’t asked for it. We raise a hallelujah to a God who is a hundred steps ahead of us, who knows the road we are walking. In fact, He is walking this road alongside us, while simultaneously preparing the way ahead for us.
We will keep raising a hallelujah, no matter how dark the days get. We will raise our hallelujah, in spite of it all. We will raise a hallelujah to the God who keeps His promises. We will raise a hallelujah to a God who is faithful. A God who is good. No matter what, we will keep raising our hallelujah!
